Welcome Letter

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the third grade! I am very excited to begin this school year! This year we will be learning a variety of topics in math, science, social studies, reading, and langauge arts. In math we will be learning multiplication, division, and finding number patterns. In science we will learn about the life cycles of plants and animals, dinosaurs, and land forms. In social studies we will current events and more about our hometown of Wheaton, IL. In reading we will learn to use the dictionary, read chapter books, and also become more advanced readers. In langauge arts we will writing poems, keeping journals and recognizing parts of speech.

The expectations of your child will be higher than they were in the second grade. Homework will be given daily and it is expected that students turn in all of their work on time. Any work that is turned in late will be marked one letter grade down per day late. Students are also expected to read at home daily. Each week students will be given a reading log which they are to fill out and have signed by a parent or guardian. Students are also expected to work hard and but in their best effort to all activities and discussions we may have in class.

It is important that all students understand the and apply the rules of the classroom. These rules allow our classroom to run smoothly and safely!

Please remeber that our classroom webpage is updated frequently and has a large amount of valuable information on it. If you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year, please let me know!

I am very excited to get to know you and your child. I look forward to a great year of fun and learning!

 Sincerely,

Miss Humann
